This is an attractive looking street corner pub with a warm and friendly ambience. Situated a couple of lanes back from the harbourside and the sea front in the other direction, the atmosphere is radically different from many of the more tourist and food centred bars found there. Our evening visit found a busy chatty pub with nearly all seats taken and drinkers also congregating around the bar. The main room with the squint ended bar on the rear wall has various items of mixed décor on show, much with a maritime theme including ship's knots in a glass case framed by a life buoy, pub mirrors and even a framed Weymouth F.C. shirt. The firemans' axe had a write up below which I couldn't make out so I'm unsure of any significance. The TV was off with music playing linked to a TV channel but not at a volume detrimental to conversation.
Another linked side room has a pool table and framed pictures of race horses. A high shelf contains a library of reference books.
The pumps had St Austell Proper Job, Tribute, Doom Bar and Dartmoor Jail Ale plus a box behind the bar contained a cider from Cheddar Valley. Two handpumps remained unclipped. There were also good selections of whiskies and gins.
I liked it here and would probably have the place very high on a list for revisits if in town again.

Very much a locals pub just a few minutes walk from the quay. Really good selection of real ales and staff very friendly, I always pop in here when in Weymouth always very busy.

Best pub and best ale quality on a crawl around the town,this GBG regular should not be missed.The interior is well described below,it's a tradtional boozer with a collection of old boys pertched on stools around the bar,chatty and friendly on a Thursday lunchtime visit.
The six handpumps were drawing Cerne Abbas Blonde (in perfect nick),St Austell Cornish Best Bitter and Proper Job,Doom Bar and Dartmoor Jail Ale with one pump unclipped.I could have settled in for a much longer session,which would be the aim the next time I'm in town.

A GBG regular, this Georgian town corner pub consists io a single main bar with a smaller games room to one side. The décor is basic with a few personal bits of clutter adorning the walls, there is a dartboard and tv screen, the games room has a pool table. A jar of dog biscuits on a shelf indicated a friendly attitude to canine clients. The staff were quite welcoming, the locals very quiet, and there was a friendly air about the place. Four ales on, 2 from St Austell, Doombar and Jail Ale. I had the latter, which was in perfect condition, one of the best I can remember. I shall certainly come back here, and this is a perfect addition to any crawl.

I think that the Globe is split into two rooms, but I only visited the main bar area in the right hand side. A standard draught selection was available and I counted six hand pumps. One of these was unused leaving Brains Rev James, Sharps Doom Bar, Ringwood’s Old Thumper, Dartmoor Brewery’s Jail Ale and Hopback’s Crop Circle as the ale options. At the right hand end of the bar is a dartboard and a small plasma screen was showing muted Olympic coverage. There is a nautical theme that runs throughout and a pool table is advertised, which I suppose must be located in the left hand side of the pub.
I found the service to be friendly and a good atmosphere was generated by the other clientele. Before I left on the recent Thursday evening I visited the pub started to really fill up with an older crowd.
This is certainly one of the better pubs of the area and I would make a point of revisiting if I found myself in the area again.

I spent a few days in Weymouth and this was the best pub I went in (and I went in quite a few !). Three real ales were available and the Ringwood Old Thumper was excellently kept. Obviously popular with locals but everyone was very friendly including the bar staff. Good comfortable seating and general ambience. Handy for the old harbour area.

Its not a West Ham shirt, it the local team shirt.
The claret is in fact, any real drinker will tell you, is red currant glory - this is colour prejudice gone one step too far !!!
A brilliant pub run by a chap who not only appreciates real ale but knows how to keep it.
Well worth a return.

A detached corner pub and eatery, which also does accommodation. It looks late Victorian/Edwardian and is in a mix of undressed brick and a blue and white on the gables, bay windows and the ground level, which looks a little like decorative icing on a cake - it is gawdy, but in a nice way.
The interior has a couple of rooms - the main room is in a U-shape around the serving bar and is in red and white wood panel, with a white ceiling. There is a nautical theme to the ephemera, along with a few mirrors and NOT a West Ham shirt! (i went to see Weymouth FC play when visiting :-), there is a stone fireplace and dart board. The other room has a pool table and horse racing paintings. The service was fine and the clientele seemed to be a mix of locals with a few tourists. The TV wasn't on and the music was general and at a decent level.
Beer; tap stuff, with a decent set of handpulls - the St Austell Tribute and the Sharpe's Doombar were fine, the Dartmoor Jail Ale decent.
An all round decent and proper pub that seemes to have gone from strength to strength judging by the other review. I would more than happily go again, they just need to get the right claret 'n' blue on the walls!

The Globe is a small corner pub that is not far from the harbour.
Once inside this pub pub there was one carpeted room and a seperate pool room,the pub seemed a bit old fashioned and children are not allowed in here.
There was one real ale on the bar which was Wadworth 6X this was quite a nice drink.
Not a bad pub if you want a quiet drink.
