A Hall and Woodhouse low brick pub in a busy Dorset village, not at all chocolate-boxy, in fact rather the opposite. There is a car park and a large garden with children’s play apparatus, a barbecue area and several tables for diners, though the large amount of litter around is a little off-putting. Inside, it is spacious when not crowded, and there is live sports on the TV, which along with a number of feral children, makes it hard to move around. It caters almost exclusively for locals, although we were kindly offered a bucket of water for the dogs. Four ales and a cider on draft, the Firkin Fox was a reasonable pint. Happy to drop in if passing, but it wouldn’t be somewhere I’d make my local.

Called in for a swift pint with my lad after playing with the tanks at Bovington. Quite a comfortable pub on the main drag from Dorchester with friendly atmosphere and well kept Hall & Woodhouse ales. Didn't try the food. Average.

Popped in after a day of Monkey-bothering up the road, for a quick pint after finding the Bear closed. Served a decent pint of Hall & Woodhouse First Gold (it's an H&W pub by the looks of it as the other ale was Tanglefoot).

Pretty spacious inside, two bars and a few nooks and crannies to explore. Gives off the impression of being olde worlde though how legitimate that impression is, I don't know. Plenty of food available but didn't sample. Minus point for the surliness of the barmaid, cheer up love.
