E TA left this review about Royal Oak Hotel

The Royal Oak is sited on the main road past the town. A former coaching inn dating from 1720, the business still offers B&B and is a freehouse. The building pre-dates the inn business and is probably 16th Century. The front main bar, entered through a rather scruffy doorway littered with fag ends, is floorboarded and has a brick hearth with a woodburner, while the rear bar is now set out as a restaurant. There is a small car park at the front and a sheltered walled garden behind. Staff were welcoming and the pub is dog friendly. Two ales on – I had Doombar which was is good condition though not at its best. Worth stopping for lunch and a quick pint.
