A proper town pub currently owned by Wadworths. There is a large saloon bar at one end, a smaller public bar in the middle and a tiny games room with a pool table at the far end. There is a dart board and several TV screens, and free wifi is available. Dogs are tolerated in the public end. It has a bit of a down-market local feel to it, shabby red carpets and recently renovated décor including a pointed stone wall around the main fireplace, next to which sits a high chair promising the torment of noisy children. However, there is a welcoming feel to it. Staff are efficient enough, and the locals are more interested in the sport on the tv than in being civilised. Two ales on, I had the 6X which wasn't at its best but was nonetheless drinkable. Worth dropping in when passing, and I'd include on a crawl.

Excellent locals' pub on edge of town, perhaps a little heavy on the sports content but very pleasant when visited on a quiet lunchtime. The main room features the bar, with adjoining rooms offering darts and pool. a range of beers from Wadworth and very good food. fairly basic garden area to the side. A fair walk out of town, but worth visiting if passing.

Good food pub with a warm welcome and usually a good range of ales. Well known for its good menu of home-cooked food albeit a tad expensive. Above average.
