Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Ye Olde Two Brewers Inn

Well worth the walk down the famous Gold Hill (and back up again!) to find this attractive old inn in the lower (St James) part of town. Partly opened out inside to leave a 'L'-shaped bar with various seating areas and a dining room at the back. Refurbished in a light upmarket style throughout. The rear beer garden apparently offers a great view (but not during the rain when I visited...). Five handpumps on the counter, with Doom Bar, Landlord, Butcombe Gold, Sixpenny Brewery 6d Best (£3.30) and Cheddar Valley cider available when I called by.

A wonderful old town pub just a little way from the bottom of Gold Hill. Parking is limited, but it's a nice walk down from the town centre. The décor in the irregular-shaped bar is unpretentious though somewhat dated: it feels a bit like a timewarp. The welcome was warm and the atmosphere convivial. Staff are friendly and the regulars are civilised. The pub is dog friendly and has free wifi. The food is Thai-based – not traditional pub grub by any means, so seems a bit incongruous in this setting, but it's well cooked and reasonably priced. Five ales and one cider on; I had a pint of Sixpenny Bitter which was in perfect condition. This is a pub where I could spend many long hours enjoying the company, a lunch and the beer, though I would probably look elsewhere for an evening meal.

Further to my review for the Mitre, I've now changed my mind, this pub is better. I never found it on my first visit to Shaftesbury as it's down the bottom of Gold hill but well worth seeking out, several real ales all kept in excellent condition in very pleasant surroundings.
