Located in an up and coming area just a short walk across the river from Temple Meads, this new pub and brewery is located in one of the old railway arches and reminded me very much of some of the similar establishments on the Bermondsey Beer Mile. They’ve definitely made a bit more effort with the décor unlike some of their nearby competitors, and it looked quite inviting with it’s blue picket fence and picnic tables outside.

Internally it follows a similar style to many such establishments, with white corrugated iron cladding the arched ceiling to keep the rainwater at bay and some sort of concrete screed on the floor. Benches made from oak or pine cladding had been fixed to some of the permitter, and elsewhere were similarly styled benches at right angles to the walls. These had been filled in and painted a shade of aqua blue on the ends, and a metal frame above with a wicker “ceiling” and some foliage on the corners made a more homely feel. A large cable reel had been made in to a table and there were some unusual murals on the walls. Plenty of festoon style lights were strung from the ceiling and there was a pile of boards games in one corner. Elsewhere was an extensive selection of beer cans which made something of a feature. The bar counter was at the far end, and behind this were a couple of stainless-steel brewing vessels.

Beers on tap were predominantly their own as would be expected, and on this occasion the options listed above the bar were Rising Light, Chasing Pulsars, Mosaic and Stout. There were also a gose beer called Tropical from Yonder, which was a style I have not come across before. The solitary cider meanwhile was Theme Park which is a collaboration between Left Handed Giant and Pilton. All in all, I thought they’d done a pretty good job of converting this, and it would make a welcome pit stop if you’ve got some time to spare before catching a train.
