Part of the Castle Hotel business and an adjunct to the hotel building, this single-room cafe bar occupies a good position in the centre of Taunton's main high street area. It's more of a lounge than a pub. The bar is formed from two rooms conjoined, with laminate flooring and a large chandelier in high-ceilinged rear part. Most of the seating is comfy benches around low tables, though there are a couple of high casual tables with high chairs in the centre. The bar counter is at one side, holding 2 handpumps and an array of stainless megakeg taps. The young, foreign staff are pleasant enough, but they're functional rather than welcoming. Only one ale on, Tribute, which was in poor condition and 44% over the average cost for the area. They also got upset about my wanting to pay cash. It's over-priced and soulless, so I'll leave it to the hipsters and chavs who seemed to like it here.
