One of Broadstairs’ many shop-converted micro pubs, this one is set in a decent sized unit in a parade of shops not too far from the train station. The room has some nice parquet flooring and walls painted in bright, vibrant colours which give it a distinctive look that might otherwise have been lacking from such a basic unit. Seating comes in the form of chairs, benches, sofas and high stools, all serving a mix of tables including one with a chessboard painted on the top surface. The servery is to the rear of the room and has a nice counter with old LP’s set into the front of it and a backlit bar back with a beer board to one side and a smaller board on the end of the bar detailing the cider selection. Smart modern art prints around the walls give the place a contemporary feel, offset by an old radiogram with a large LP selection from which customers are encouraged to make selections to give the pub a bit of background music. A shelving unit next to the bar was stacked full of books and board games which customers are free to peruse and make use of. There’s some limited seating outside the front of the pub, mainly in the form of one large bench and some wicker chairs, whilst the toilet is rather unusually an outdoor affair, accessed via a path down the side of the building.
There were three cask ales available on arrival – Canterbury Green and Gold, Iron Pier Milk Stout and one other that I forgot to make a note of, whilst two or three cider options were also listed. A couple sat near us ordered a cheese board which looked very appetising and is the main attraction on the pub’s snack menu. The barman here was very friendly and served up a good pint of the Milk Stout.
This is a pretty functional micropub which perhaps lacks a bit of character when compared to some of the town’s other venues. I found it another welcoming pub with decent beer and comfortable surrounds but felt that it fell a little short in comparison with other pubs on our crawl.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Pub

I thought this was the newest micro-pub in Broadstairs, having opened in a former off-licence in 2018, until I came across the Magnet in the town centre. Usual mix of limited furniture and eclectic decor within the small square room, although the 1960s HMV radiogram playing in its bespoke wooden cabinet (with customers also able to bring their own LPs) is an unusual feature. A another table with cane chairs are also provided on the front pavement. Four real ales - Hawkshead ITI, Cast Iron Stout from Iron Pier, T-Wrex from Big Hand (£3.20) and the local Gadds No 5 - available on gravity, plus three key-keg beers - including the 1.2% Gadds No 11 - on tap. Live music somehow squeezed in during the folk festival.
