Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Crossing

Micro-pub located just on the Lancaster Canal side of the West Coast Main Line level crossing but only a short distance from the vast expanse of Morecambe Bay. Features a U-shaped room with plenty of window space that extends further back than immediately obvious, but not as quiet as you might expect due to the barrier warnings and the passing trains. Six real ales in a range of styles on handpump, including two each from Northern Monkey and Titanic plus Swan Blonde from Bowness Bay and Vale Pale from Tomos & Lilford (£3.40).

typical example of a micropub. From outside it looks more like a cafe but once inside you find three distinct areas to sit separated by the main wall. The main room had a roaring fire which was absolutely boiling. Six ales on and these were a very obscure selection. Decent place with typical north Lancashire well to do customers.

I made the mistake of calling here at ten past nine one evening, when the lights were still on but the place had evidently closed. So I called back a bit earlier the next night, when half a dozen or so drinkers were in. The brewers from local Q Brew, who are in the process of reopening the Taps on the Green, were talking about their attempt to recreate Boddingtons Bitter, which used to be available locally (Hest Bank just up the road, New Inn at Morecambe and Plough at Galgate) and was a favourite tipple of mine when I lived in Lancaster and worked in Preston. They had one of their beers on the bar, but I went for one called Credence Porter, as I'd had enough pale and hoppy beers already. I'll call back next time I'm in the area, unless Boddies is on at the Taps.
