As with Ian Mapp below, I had tried to visit in and around lockdowns, without any luck. I returned yesterday to find it open (the Middleton Arms was too, by the way) and was very happy that I'd made the effort to come back.

This micropub was easily my favourite pub of the day. It seems popular with both locals and visitors, with the friendly landlord making both sets of customers feel at home. 5 ales were also on for my visit - Wye Valley Bitter & The Hopfather, Purple Moose Whakahari, Ludlow Red & Three Tuns Solstice. Of more interest to me was the impressive cider list on a blackboard to the side of the bar - Abrahall's Cuckoo Penny, Thundering Molly & Wild Berries, Borderland Beast, Brave & Beauty, Skyborry Perry, Herefordshire Cloudy Cider & Weston's Vintage.

The 3 ciders I hadn't had were the Borderland ones. Sadly, I was driving. Otherwise, I could quite happily have tried all of them. As it was, I chose one of the two 8.4% ciders, instead of the weaker 7.8% option. This was a producer from Newtown that I'd never actually heard of before.

There are numerous CAMRA awards displayed on the walls, despite the pub not appearing in the last 2 Good Beer Guides, presumably because of its closure. I'd hazard a guess that it will appear in the next 2024 edition though.

Original review (July 2021):

Still closed after lockdown.

Walking the Heart of Wales Line. Last in town in Sept 2021, when the Good Beer Guide had two entries - this and the Middleton Arms. Both closed - this one temporarily and the other one looking far more permanent.

Role on 6 months and a new Good Beer Guide. Arvon is back running, Middleton Arms still closed and you can guess which one remains in the book :-)

Back story over - this is a shop conversation micro pub done rather well. Pubby bench seating around the exterior walls, some partitioning, solid proper bar.

Gins, Cider and 5 (!) real ales on Cask. Seemed far too many for the footfall - Saturday afternoon and there were just the 5 punters in - so we could have had a dedicated beer each.

Three were similar styles - Wye Valley Bitter, Hopfather and Purple Moose Snowdonia Ale.

My Hopfather was in perfect condition - so no complaints from me.

This one was my main reason for visiting Landrindod but the Llanerch Inn was a fine Brucie Bonus. It's a proper micropub with no unwanted distractions, although they do also sell some specialist spirits. The room has a much higher ceiling than most of these places but the overall size of it is probably around average. It has a wooden floor and mostly lower seating.
The small bar area at the rear has five hand pumps which had Twisted Barrel Sine Qua Non, Mad Dog Oaty McOatface, Hobson's Old Henry & Best and St Annes Viking Erik Brew. I went for the Sine Qua Non, Oaty McOatface and Old Henry all at £3.00 and all in great nick.
I found this to be an excellent micropub.
