This is a small (compared to neighbouring buildings) terraced pub and restaurant which is in the GBG 2011 and has a rear beer garden area that has a small kids play area in it. It is described on the frontage as 16th century. The frontage is in white, with a fake stone effect and black paintwork around the doors and windows. It has a Georgian look, though the windows are modern.

The interior has a couple of rooms, as well as a function room. What looks like the door into the pub is in fact a passageway through to the beer garden, so the front room, which is the bar room, is in fact accessed by another door. This is a small room in white and black wood panel, white ceiling and a red patterned carpet, with stone flag flooring around the stone built serving bar. There is a stone chimney breast and fireplace with a gas fire and a dart board, only accessable if you move the tables around. The seating is mainly tables, so you can eat here too. There are bits of ephemera dotted about and I noted a stags head with a hat on! You can walk past the bar into the restaurant area at the back. This is a long and narrow room, part bisected by a support column part way down. It is in white, undressed stone and black wood panel, with white and beam ceiling and stone floor. It has old prints on the walls and of course contains nothing but dining tables. I didn't eat here so can't comment on the food. There was a TV in the bar room, which had the Ceefax cricket scores on. The music was rock based and at a decent level. The service was good and as it was an early visit, there were no other clientele in.

Beer; the usual tap stuff with two real ales gravity served from the cask behind the bar. These were Cottage Silver Cloud and Teignworthy Old Moggie at my visit. As a Midlander, who generally prefer heads on their beer, they looked flat, but were in fact spot on.

I really liked this pub. We sat outside on a glorious day and i would more than happily return. Well worth a GBG entry.

This GBG listed pub was a big dissapointment. Based on other reports I must have picked a really bad lunch time. 2 Beers available from the Cask both totally dead, stll offerings.
Bar area looked very tired.

Traditional pub. Good home cooked food, both bar snacks and seperate restaurant menu. Beer garden in the sun, dine 'al fresco'. Nice and friendly, locals very friendly. Good real ales poured straight out of the cask.
