This brewery and micropub are situated within easy walking distance of the town centre.

As you approach, the small bar area is just to the right-hand-side of the brewery itself. The single room has a number of high bench tables and stools, with the bar at the far end. A blackboard on the left-hand wall lists the beers and ciders available, whilst further along the same wall are a couple of fridges and shelving containing bottled versions of their beers, along with guests.

It was fairly quiet when we entered, but soon filled up, creating a lively atmosphere. Whilst not a traditional pub atmosphere (go to the nearby Coach & Horses for that), it was still enjoyable.

The full list of Billericay Brewing Co. beers available on cask was Black Christmas, Christmas Blonde, Barista, Mayflower Gold & Zeppelin. The pub hosts a number of beer festivals throughout the year and apparently had had one the weekend before our visit. A couple of beers left over from the festival (MGV20 and MGV21) were soon added to the blackboard.

Real ciders are served from boxes in the fridge. There were 2 from local producer Bertie's - Dabinett & Bramley and Obsession. I'd not seen the Dabinett & Bramley before and indulged in this 7.5% dry cider.

Billericay Mayflower Pale & Mobberley Beer House Crush were Key Keg options. We also chose to take a few bottles away with us, but be warned - they don't come cheap.

This opened on Friday 5th December and is a new micropub / bottle shop next door to the Billericay Brewery.
This is Essex's second micro pub. It's also a bottle shop and is still something of a work in progress as the man who I assume owns it explained. At the moment the beers are carried through from stillage in the brewery next door but the plan is to have stillage behind the counter. The floor probably needs some attention, but if this were an Antic pub they would probably leave it.
The small room has a couple of tables with some chairs, shelving full of bottles and a small makeshift counter with a till.
On my visit they were selling the full range of eight Billericay beers, Mild Bill, Zeppelin, Blond, Billericay Dickie, Rhythm Stick, Mild With No Name, Chapel Street Porter and Mayflower Gold IPA. I got through five of these. They were all two cold and a couple were rather lacking condition but apart from that I was happy with them. Prices were £3.00 for beers under 4.5% and £3.50 for the others apart from the 6.5% Mayflower which was £4.00. I believe there were eight beers on offer because it was just before Xmas. I think the plan would be to have fewer and a couple of guests. All in all I enjoyed my visit here but though the £4.00 for the Mayflower was a bit steep and I'm a bit worried about the lack of a temperature controlled cellar. I did ask if there was a Joyce or Vickie working at the brewery after ordering a Billericay Dickie (younger readers will need to Google the name to find out what this is all about) and I was assured there was not.
I would be more than happy to make a return visit.

Normal opening hours are 10.00-17:00 Tuesday & Wednesday, 10.00-20.00 Thursday to Saturday and closed Sunday & Monday.
