A shop conversion attached to the small hotel next door, with a surprisingly lively feel. Still much as described below, although the sports screens were at least under control. Ales on offer were London Pride, Tribute and Hophead and a long row of Cask Marque certificates shows they do take their beer seriously.

ORIGINAL REVIEW Sept 2013
The latest addition to the Hertford drinking scene, this is an extension of the Hertford House Hotel next door, the two drinking establishments interconnect. It has an upmarket bar vibe with the interior designer in touch with his feminine side, four chandeliers ,upholstered bench seating on two sides, tea lights on every table. The two large picture windows give a good view over Parliament Square and the Georgian interior retains original features such as a dado rail. The bar is set back to the left surrounded by many bar stools and besides 5 kegs taps, there are four handpumps drawing Deuchars IPA,TT Landlord,St Austell Tribute and a decent Wadsworth Henry IPA (£3.60) on my trip. There are two flat screens showing BT Sport and the muzak was playing quiet loud on my early doors visit, the bar tends to open around 5pm on weekdays.A decent sized beer garden at the rear completes the offering.
Higher marks would have been awarded if the ale selection was more adventurous than the national brands on offer on my trip, but there's enough here to warrant another trip. After a few more beers the quirky decor may grow on you.

UPDATE
The name is a misnomer,it's generally not quiet at all, with three large flatscreens featuring sports coverage,or just Sky Sports News,at high volume. Some live music will also be loud, and there is a laddish atmosphere when busy.Three handpumps normally operating with a very good Dark Star Hophead on my last trip alongside St Austell Tribute and London Pride. But why not put the screens on mute when the matches are over ???
