I was on a trip by the Villager bus through Derby's outskirts and surrounding country, and after photographing Hilton's three pubs I chose this one for a beer before catching the bus on to Hatton. Except that the bus stop opposite the pub was no longer in use, as I found out the hard way. Anyway, the pub itself was a little quiet just before 2pm in early December, with just three or four customers. I found four beers on hand pull, Wainwright and Hobgoblin (the gold versions of each), Pedigree and an IPA (my notes made at the time don't specify whose, but it will have been from the Marstons stable). ALthough a lot of water has passed beneath the bridge since my visit, it's good to see that their Facebook page is advertising Pedigree for St George's Day (today!!) at just £2.80 a pint.
