Even though we were looking for the Red Lion, we nearly drove straight past it. A dilapidated old pub sign was what finally drew our attention to what looked like and actually is a working farm.

The car park is to the front and it's rather awkward to park your car. You just have to go with the flow and position your car somewhere in the middle of the local farmers' vehicles.

Inside, there is a single, traditional bar with plenty of character. The aforementioned locals were sat at the bar and one table next to the bar in deep conversation when we arrived. One of them wearing braces turned out to be the landlord. My son was interested in the calves in the farm to the rear and he even offered to sell us one! The rest of the locals seemed to be a friendly and witty bunch. However, we opted to take up residence at one of the tables outside to the front of the pub.

Bass & Doom Bar are the regular beers here. Old Speckled Hen was the guest beer. This is a classic rural locals' pub that is well worth stopping by for.

A true classic, unspoilt rural pub. Basically just one room with a huge inglenook and a real fire in the grate. No food available. Just a small car park in front of the pub with no marked lines. Features in the 2011 Good Beer Guide offering Draught Bass, Worthington Bitter and a guest beer. The GBG and the Ordnance Survey give the location as "Dayhills".
