This has to be the most obscure, difficult to get to and generally bizarre Spoons in the Greater London Area. It is a Lloyds No 1 rather than a Wetherspoon.

It is stuck in the middle of a spacious well manicured Business Park in the middle of nowhere between Hayes & Harlington and West Drayton Stations. The park hosts hi-tech companies such as Canon and Activision, a name which I remember from the original Atari Console back in the late seventies!

The Wetherspoon's booklet lists it as Uxbridge, well it has an Uxbridge postcode but that's about it.

The Stockley Business Park is served by three buses, the A10, U5 and 350 which can be boarded from Hayes & Harlington, Heathrow, West Drayton or Uxbridge (you need to check the bus routes online to see the options). The key to finding it is the glass pointed structure seen in the photos. I approached it by road from the bus stop followed by a walk trough a car park. The road doesn't have a pavement indicating that people walking along it are looked upon as some sort of nutter. On returning to Hayes it appeared that there was a bridge across the lake into the Arena which is the Retail/Leisure complex where the White House is located.

Inside the place is modern and more Korova Milk Bar from the Clockwork Orange film rather than classic pub interior. Despite that there was no controversial furniture or psycho thugs wearing a bowler hat and heavy mascara on one eye.

The bar sported five pumps, one of which was Ruddles and all of which were in use. I opted for the 5% Wolf Tasmanian Wolf which was £2.49.

Another old fogey approached me and asked me what it was like and I told him it was OK (which it was).

According to the Spoons web site this place is open 08:00-11:00 all week. Unusually for a Spoons there is a large grass lawn outside with picnic tables, so it may be a summer attraction for local people, but I can't see it getting much trade on winter weekends.

This Wetherspoon's pub is set in a very nice position overlooking a small lake.Inside it has a small bar leading into a long and narrow drinking/eating area that leads into a conservatory and outside drinking area that overlooks a very pleasant lake and if we ever get a summer would be very nice.On my visit the pub was very busy but unfortunately only had one guest ale on offer.Could do better.

This is a Wetherspoons establishment that is in a small development of shops that was purposely built to cater for the office workers of Stockley Business Park. It is on a wonderful lakeside site and on a hot summers afternoon many hours could be spent relaxing in this tranquil location. I have heard that it closes at 18:00, which doesn’t surprise me as there is not much point staying open if the core clientele have all gone home for the day. It is a large pub that has the usual Spoons promotions for cheap booze and food and there are three plasma screens which all had fish tank screen savers on them.

There are six hand pumps which were dispensing Ruddles, Pride, Moorhouse’s Pride of Pendell and a cider. A large range of standard draught products are also available and my pint of Guinness was well served by a friendly barmaid.

I would love this to be my office’s local pub and I would go out of my way to visit here again on a pleasant afternoon, but I wouldn’t bother in the winter or when it is raining because it is a bit out of the way and it is still only a JDW.
