The Half Crown is a decent looking stand alone pub that is situated away from the town centre on the busy road to Nottingham.
This pub used to be a Kimberley tied house with a decent drink of Kimberley bitter on the bar.
On a recent visit the pub seemed pretty much the same with two seperate rooms, there is a smallish oblong shaped lounge to the front left, this room is carpeted and had leather bench seating and chairs.
The bar is to the rear, this is a decent sized room that is iregular shaped, there is a bar billiards table next to the door, with a pool table to the rear right, the darts board was to the left, the room is carpeted and had comfy bench seating and chairs, this is quite comfortable room to have a drink in.

There were three pumps on the bar,all clips turned round,i asked for a drink of real ale,but was told no call for it here,it only goes down the drain,i had a drink of keg GK IPA which was better than i thought it would be.

The pub was empty on my mid Tuesday afternoon visit, which is a shame as this is quite a smart and comfortable pub.

Update: Well they got rid of the tinning and pulled the pub down, one less pub in the area and more housing.

An impressive 1930s (?) pub set back from the main road in its own grounds, with a large car park at the front. The building rambles a bit, with two large main bars and a smaller games room at the front, and a smokers' area at the side. The floors are carpeted, the décor is sober, with some repro features, there are open fireplaces and the warm welcome is genuine from locals and staff alike. Seating is a rather twee mix of fixed upholstered benches and standard chair-table combos. The pub is dog friendly. It has moved with the times; there are gaming machines, a pool table and – joy! - bar billiards, sitting nicely underneath a large flat screen tv. Even the jukebox was being agreeable, beaming an 80s nostalgiafest at us, and by way of contrast there was a projector-screen set-up. There are even sweet vending machines in the foyer. Live acts are advertised but there was no entertainment during this visit. Two ales on – Olde Trip and Trooper, both in very good condition. There is something really nice about this pub, which I can't quite put my finger on, but it's the sort of place where one can while away a few hours with ease. I would be quite happy to drop in when passing, and not just for the beer.
