Long thin pub with a raised seating area to the left, and comfy seats to the right. Moving on there’s some tall tables and stools opposite the counter then it broadens out and forms two areas. To the right what looks like a conservatory or less charitably a lean to, to the left some tables and chairs and the way to the toilets. Six hand pulls, one off, two with ciders and a beer each from Moor, Arbor and Bristol Beer Factory on the others. Quality was pretty good. Five by four T/bars with a mix of kegs, nothing very common. The other customers were mostly under 30 and other than a couple of couples and a bloke or two, younger females. Low light levels and slightly higher music level, decor is bird pictures and odd artifacts.

Blackthorn _ left this review about The Swan

A traditional looking stone built pub surrounded by several other decent hostelries, this is a good size internally extending back some considerable way from the front including a conservatory at the rear.

Décor wise it’s fairly traditional, with dark wood flooring in most of the pub along with some quarry tiles at the very rear. Dark green painted wood panelling was on the lower part of the walls, with shades of mustard yellow and salmon pink elsewhere. A number of old fireplaces were dotted around, some with attractive glazed red tiling and at least one was lit. High tables protruding perpendicularly from the wall were on the right hand side opposite the bar counter, with regular tables and chairs and some old sofa’s completing the seating arrangements. The rear bar was probably the cosiest and included what was perhaps an old bread oven or some type of range cooker, and this had a selection of board games piled on top. Light fixtures were an unusual pineapple design.

The menu consisted of Indian Street food, and my Dilli Murg Lucknowi was a decent and tasty dish. Also rather unusual was the whole Dilli Pani Puri which were dough balls filled with potato and chickpeas to which you poured in a mixture of tamarind sauce and aromatic water and then ate whole. Not your typical pub food perhaps, but something different and quite enjoyable.

Beers on tap were Bristol Beer Factory’s White Desert and Notorious, Stroud Brewery’s Tom Long and Arbor’s Massive Azacc. The solitary ciders meanwhile was Iford New Tradition. All in all, a very pleasant pub and well worth popping in.
