This pub has had various ownerhip/management changes over the years , previously owned by Andwell Brewery for a few years , now I think independently owned but with ties. It's never been clear cut on what type of pub this intends to be, it has always has had pretentions toward the gastro side of things but the day to day clientel are local workers as described below and clashes with the dining set up around the pub. It's less than a mile from home for me and used it only a few times over the years but have never felt the need to use it on a regular basis.

The Derby Inn is situated very much in a village area just off the main A287 road. A small amount of parking is available next to the pub. Otherwise, there is generally space on the street.

Inside, there is a reasonably large dining area with tables made out for the non-existent diners. All customers on my Friday evening visit were post-work drinkers, who all seemed a bit of a rough and ready lot.

I'm not sure if the pub is now owned by Greene King or not. But the ale choice consisted of Abbot & Old Speckled Hen, which led me to suspect a tie with the brewery. It was not quite what I was expecting.
