Upmarket Brunning & Price dining pub, with a multi-room interior which - apart from the conservatory extension - is very traditionally furnished and decorated. The 'L'-shaped bar counter features two banks of handpumps, with duplicated clips for the 'house' Original Bitter, Harvey's, Tribute, Tonbridge Rustic and two from Old Dairy: Blue Top and the potent Dark Side of the Moo.

An imposing whitewashed old coaching inn situated a good mile out from Sevenoaks town centre and close to Knole House and park. A Brunning and Price operation as this upmarket chain moves south from its north west origins so no surprise to find the usual mix of good food and a decent selection of cask ales. Inside there are numerous connected areas, some more food centric but not exclusively so, the flooring is mostly polished boards but carpeted one end as well as in the conservatory which has views over the extensive gardens and the Weald beyond, a number of exposed brick fireplaces including a large through version will be great in the winter months.
The walls are literally festooned with all sorts of framed stuff, of interest were old Kent maps, cricket related stuff, vintage cars as well as the more risque stuff in one corner. There are bookcases, board games and newspapers on top of a bureau, a big pub is this so despite the food operation there is loads of room to settle in and relax with a drink.
The excellent beer selection today were Harvey's Sussex Best, Old Dairy Blue Top plus also Flight of the Kiwi, Wantsum Red Raddle, Adnam's Ghost Ship, Tonbridge Blonde Ambition and Long Man Old Man. The house beer is B&P Bitter, brewed by Phoenix of Manchester. There was a local Kent cider in a covered chilled box behind the bar.
Mains between £10.95 to £16.95 with steak more, sandwiches from £5.95.
This is not by any description a typical drinkers place for a session, in fact unless you are a walker it is really a driving destination but it is a decent spot for what was needed today and I liked it.

Absolutely Fantastic pub, has everything you need, Great Beers, Wines & Ciders along with cracking good food. The thing that makes this pub worth travelling to is the staff, the service is excellent and nothing is too much trouble. If that is not enough for you blokeys then let me tell you that behind that bar you will find the hottest barmaids this side of Texas
So head down there and speak to Chris (Grand Fromage), Oli, Beccie, Alex or Phoebe and tell em His Lordship sent you ;-)
