First Good Beer Guide Tick in 2021. Replacing that book was a bit of a waste of money.
Only allowed in the garden, of course and they have made a good job of creating a pubby experience outside. A large marquee hosts a number of tables with a proper bar running along the back wall.
This bar had six hand pulls on - and apart from the Salopian Hop Twister - the beers were new to me.
I settled on an Abbeydale Absolution and it was in perfect condition.
Seemed very popular - considering its reasonably remote location. I was told all tables would be gone by 1pm. I made it in at 12:30 and this did seem to be correct, as people were keen to jump in my grave on my exit.

This is a detached pub, with conservatory/marquee and beer garden area. Indeed, back in the 80s it had a 5-aside goals on the grass, hence my mates and i used to visit for a kick-about and beer. The building is a Georgian one, in red brick, with a modern double brick gable extension to the side. It looks like a farmhouse that may have become a beerhouse after 1830 (as a guess). Anyhow, the interior has an irregular shaped room. It still retains the 80s look from my first visits - being in white artex walls, with a white and beam ceiling and a tile floor. It has a couple of stone fireplaces - one cetainly from the original building. Settles mix with general tables and chairs for the seating in this dog friendly pub. There is no TV and there was no music at my visit. The walls have a few prints and a few mirrors on them and the ceiling has some hanging jugs and an historic beermat collection on it - I am sure i saw a coronation ale for George III! They do food in the day, but i can't comment on that. It was voted CAMRA's Warwickshire pub of the year, 2013. The service was friendly and place was rammed - clearly a mix of locals and foreigners from Coleshill! Beer; usual tap stuff (the Carling was served from an old Carling Black Label 80s tap) with a plethora of handpulls; Art Brew's Snergi, Otter Head, Saddler's JPA, TSA Blonde Bombshell, RCH Pitchfork, Pedigree... and an amazing Batham's Bitter, Theakston's Old Peculiar (served back in the 80s and was my first real ale) and Jenning's MILD. This place is found next to St Cuthbert's Church, proving that temporal and spiritual salvation can exist side-by-side. GO.

This is one of 2 or 3 pubs I have been in some time ago and found to be made so unwelcome it takes 20 years or so to return. In this case, a visit on the way to a wedding and made to feel like one of those 'what do you think you are doing here' type of places
In this case, moving within 5 miles or so, and its reputation for beer meant a return was probably overdue. Unfortunately I was after food in the evening, for which they don't accommodate. It was still a little 'locally' but maybe being older and as a couple they were more willing to serve, but it still felt a little uncomfortable. However, looks great inside and a great choice of beer, so I will return to give a full chance.
Seems popular despite no food or anywhere near any housing!
This was the setting for the 2011 BBC TV programme fanale of 'Oz and Hugh Raise the Bar' featuring Oz Clarke and Hugh Dennis.
