A large and rather swish cocktail bar and restaurant with upmarket furnishings and rather supercilious staff. A forlorn clutch of handpumps had Landlord and Doom Bar clips reversed, although interestingly no cask ales were showing on the price list so it is unclear if they are still stocked. The curved building frontage and the large patio garden at the rear are notable, but otherwise a waste of space.

Can't really comment on the beer - as it was a rare off day for me. Its Cask Marque accredited, so I still claimed the QR code.

Quite a mad environment for a pub. The queue of punters stretched from the front door - to a single manned till. Wetherspoons, Airport style.

The reason - is the food - can't imagine there is a better Sunday lunch in Oxford. Service was slow (45 mins) but there were so busy. The waiter was very good/polite/apologetic and helps rescue the visit.

Best part - on a sunday - is the outdoor patio. Huge sun trap.

Go for food - other places to drink.

I don't know when things here changed, but in the early '90s this was a bikers' pub with heavy metal jukebox. Well it's not like that now, for this is now in effect an overcooked gastropub/style bar that barely qualifies as a pub. Split levels, metal table tops, some covered in furry cow skin. There's a pale wood floor and spotlights to illuminate the trendy young crowd. The heavy metal jukebox has given way to muted lounge music. On the plus side, the 'pub' boasts the largest beer garden in central Oxford.
Ales: Sharp's Doom Bar and St. Austell's Tribute priced at a style bar's £2.05 a half and fine. Actually, this is quite cheap for central Oxford and especially when you consider this 'pub's' upmarket aspirations.
I wouldn't bother coming here again as it's not a pub in my language and the White Rabbit around the corner is far superior.
