The Cider Press is a long fronted pub.
Once inside there is a large oblong shaped room to the front which runs the width of the pub,the bar faces, the room is bare boarded and the seating a mix of tall tables and chairs and normal tables and chairs plus a few settees, there is a much larger room to the rear which is up a few steps, this room runs to the rear and has a table football, the seating in this area is mainly Settees.
There were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Robinsons Dizzy Blonde which went down well, the other beer was Robinsons Trooper.
The lower area was very busy on my Saturday dinner visit.
I was happy enough having a drink here.

If in this area on a Saturday dinner i would advise visiting the butchers shop which is just down and across the road from the Cider Press, they had an outside griddle which was doing Sausage and Cheese cobs or home made burgers with cheese, you could also have fried onions on them,my sausage cob only cost £2.50 it was really nice.

Blackthorn _ left this review about The Cider Press

Formerly The Rising Sun, this has recently been rebranded as The Cider Press, although it’s still part of the same “Scream” chain. It’s a good sized pub on two different levels and also has a beer garden out at the back, although it wasn’t the weather to check this out when we visited.

The main bar at the front has large windows out on to Gloucester Road along with a few leather chairs to sit and watch the world go by. There is wooden flooring and a lot of black paintwork both on much of the walls and the ceiling. This, together with the visible ducting for the ventilation, gives it a somewhat industrial feel although the end wall did have an appley themed mural on the wall showing various barrels at harvest time. There were also a few other apple related pictures dotted around. Up a few steps to the rear was another bar, and this looked to extend some way back and also had a pool table. A couple of plasmas were dotted around, although they were not too intrusive. The food offering looked to be your standard mass produced pub grub, and the menu was divided in to sections such as Pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, etc. Barman was friendly and helpful.

Cider choice was extensive as you would expect and on this occasion was Magners Golden Draught, Blackthorn, Old Rosie, Weston’s Wyld Wood, Brothers Pear, Weston’s Bounds Scrumpy, Bath’s Bounders and Orchard Pig Explorer. If beer is more your thing, there was a small, but unusual choice – Slap and Tickle, Marston’s Me Duck and Wychwood’s Wychmist.
