An old school Irish boozer with frosted external windows and few lights on inside,I wasn't sure it was open in the afternnon until a big shove of the front door yielded the basic interior. There are two seperate sides, left is notionally a lounge, right public bar with the back area behind the central bar dominated by a pool table. There is dark grey flock wallpaper everywhere, and several flatscreens with some showing Sky Sports and one dedicated to horse racing as you might expect.
The bar stools are for regulars, there are small circular tables and worn chairs to the periphery and some small bench seats. The pub will accept food takeaway orders if you are hungry, but as you might expect no real ale and only a very mainstream selection of keg beers. My half of Neck Oil was priced at £3.65 and both left a bad taste in my mouth despite a friendly welcome from the Irish landlady who was busy putting up Paddy's Day ephemera.
No need to revisit,it serves it's local community well but offers very little for pub tickers like me.

Tucked away just off the main drag. A horseshoe shaped bar serves both sides of the pub. Standard draught selection.

The original Watney Coombe Reid signage is still on the pub's exterior, but the shamrock and Gaelic script writing suggest that it's now branded as an Irish pub. Entering through the open door on the left I was in what might be regarded as the public bar area. There was no real ale in this bar, but I didn't go round to the bar on the right so there might have been a pump there that I missed, especially as the pub's website, as well as WhatPub, claims that it does real ale. I didn't see any sign of food or menus.

This is still a basic boozer. There were three large TVs that I saw, two showing some golf, and the other the racing. There's a dartboard in the left hand side of the pub, as well as a pool table at the back. The room surrounds the central horseshoe bar, and is furnished with one tall table/tall stools as far as I could see, plus several small round tables and small round stools.

This is a very basic and ordinary pub with no airs or graces. Next time I'll have a good look to see if there's a handpump that I missed.
