Leggers has a nice location at the edge of town overlooking a marina with lots of canal barges.

It looks like quite a large building, but only the upper floor is open for drinkers and diners, with a fairly small drinking space. Although, there is plenty of outdoor seating at the front, which I imagine would be quite pleasant in decent weather. There is also an adjacent children's play area. It was pouring it down when we arrived. So indoors we went.

Saltaire Blonde & Jenning's Cumberland Ale are the regular ales. On our visit, the 2 guests were Wells Bombardier & Leeds Pale. I went for the Leeds Pale, which was ok. There was no real cider.

Excellent pub, with an interesting range of real ales. Good basic value for money "pub grub."

Located a few minutes walk from the town centre, this isn’t an obvious area to find a pub, having walked through dreary backstreets or post-industrial wasteland depending on your route. However you eventually get to a canal basin/marina with Union Jacks and St Georges flags fluttering aplenty, which the pub overlooks. The pub is located in a converted loft space in what presumably was an old store house (a number of the original beams appeared to be intact, with various bits old tat nailed/balanced on them). On arriving you need to go up the steps and turn left on entering, which briefly confused me as it wasn’t marked as such and all I could see were various doorways to toilets and ‘staff only’ rooms. Six ales were available (Pitchfork, Abbeydale Moonshine, Doom Bar, Church End Grave Digger, Bobs Brewery, Everards Tiger) along with an impressive selection of foreign bottled beers, well-advertised. I tried thee of the ales; Abbeydale and Bobs Brewery were both OK if decidedly flat whilst the Pitchfork was a lot better. So hit-and-miss there. The room is separated halfway by a half brick wall and some ironwork, a pool table taking up a lot of space (unnecessarily, IMO) in one of the areas. There was a darts-labelled blackboard but no sign of the dart board. itself. Seating was those ubiquitous Argos-style chocolate brown leatherette sofas and chairs, with stripped wooden floorboard flooring. I spotted some traditional pub games available - cribbage, dominoes and draughts. Cheap food is available and the place is also dog-friendly. There were some nice flower box displays on the window ledges and a lot of care has been taken to make this a tidy and appealing place, it is certainly atmospheric. There is also some pleasant outside seating overlooking the marina which I imagine is a winner on a summer‘s day.

It’s an interesting place that warrants attention but the so-so ale condition on my visit loses it a mark which is a shame.
