Blue Scrumpy left this review about The George Hotel

Centrally located hotel, restaurant and bar, being just opposite the castle and a few doors away from the bus stop, which can take you to/from Douglas or the airport.

I arrived a bit earlier than I had anticipated on my Thursday visit. Whilst the bar is open from 9am, alcohol is not served until 11am. It doesn't mention this anywhere on its website. So, this was a bit annoying and left me trying to kill an hour or so by wandering around the town.

I returned a minute or two after 11am to find the barmaid about to tell me that they didn't serve alcohol until 11, but then she checked the clock and realised it was time!

Okell's Bitter & MPA are the real ales these days. The bar has a typical hotel lounge feel, with old pictures of Isle of Man landmarks on the walls. The clientele were mainly women in for a morning coffee. At the rear is a larger restaurant.

More of a hotel and restaurant than a pub/bar. This somehow finds itself in the Good Beer Guide.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The George Hotel

Fine old Heron & Brierley inn, located on a prime position directly opposite Rushden Castle. Features a 'L'-shaped arrangement of seating / dining areas around the bar, with furniture and decor consistent with it still being a hotel. Bar food menu with fish and meat specials. Okell's Bitter plus Spitfire and Marston's King of Swing as guests.
