Will Larter left this review about Sportsman Inn

This is a community pub right on the edge of Sheffield, where the Peak District begins, but easily reached from the city centre on the 51 bus, whose terminal turning circle is a couple of minutes' walk away. We received a friendly welcome on the blustery and wet autumn evening when we were here, and the Timothy Taylor Golden Best that we drank was in good condition, though a little cold. The barman said it's because of the cellar, but it's an unusual cellar to impart such a severe chill to a beer unaided. The other beers were Landlord and Tetleys Bitter. If you've come this far out of town it's only polite to pop along the road to the Three Merry Lads, as we did, and there are a few others worth a look in on the way back too.

The above was from 21st October 2013, when I awarded 6 out of 10. A more recent visit found Timothy Taylor Landlord, a house beer which was simply Tetleys Bitter rebadged, and Bradfield Farmers Blonde. The beer is still cold, and it now costs a whopping £3.70 a pint. We only called in as we were passing on a cycle ride, but if I'd made a special effort to come here I'd have been pretty disappointed by that.
