Unlike the New George across the road this one did have a farty smell on entering otherwise much as I’ve found before, four pulls of nationals and locals. It’s traditionally furnished and décorated as described before albeit several years ago.

A stone built village pub on the main road through Kirkstall. It is strong on food, but also features a good selection of real ales, so is worth seeking out. There are six hand pumps on the bar, of which two were serving ciders at the time of my visit. The real ales are mostly from Yorkshire micros, with others from further afield such as Jennings and Otter. Although the pub is now pretty much all one room, some semblance of the original arrangement of internal walls can still be detected, and the front snug has a fireplace.

Agree with Pub SignMan this pub is worth a look in when passing. The pub had a good atmosphere and the interior was quite plush and had a lot of comfortable seating areas plus a small outside patio area. The pub was very busy on our lunch time visit, so service at the bar was a little slow. There were 5 ales to choose from on our visit. So we went for the Daleside Blonde and a Naylors special named Saddle Sore for the Tour de Yorkshire. The beers were well kept and prices were reasonable, would call again.
