Standard small ‘spoons one ground floor room with L shaped counter to the rear right and with a standard 5+5 pulls plus T-Bars set up. Lots of evidence of removed walls in the form of pillars and a fireplace. Usual mix of tables and seating, maybe a bit more bench type than standard. Little to distinguish it from many others but it’s a reasonable place for a pint, the quality of my Rooster’s was pretty good.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Crossed Shuttle (JD Wetherspoon)

Although in a side street, this is quite an imposing building which has survived better than several other landmark buildings in the town. Partly opened-out to leave seating / dining areas on three sides of the central bar. Dark furniture and dimly lit, with a few local history displays in the back section which benefits from some larger windows. Reasonable selection from the two banks of five handpumps, with two Goose Eye beers - Chinook (£2.15) and the seasonal Blighty's Revenge - Acorn's Drop Kick, White Wolf from Little Critters and Phoenix Wobbly Bob noted.

The Crossed Shuttle was indeed the Black Bull, a post war built pub. The current name is a reference to weaving. It's quite small for a Spoons so may not have been extended a lot. The open plan L shaped room has some exposed brickwork and dark wooden panelling. The furnishings are overall better than average. It wasn't too busy on my Wednesday early evening visit. The service here was pretty good as I found it impossible to go near the bar without someone asking if they could serve me.
The bar has ten hand pumps which had the two GK beers, two available soon, two ciders, Elland Chinook, Phoenix Wobbly Bob, Acorn Barnsley Bitter and the International Hook Norton Cathcarts Xtra Pale Ale.
I had an extended stay here so went for their Chicken Club and had the Elland Chinook, Wobbly Bob and the Hook Norton international one (all £2.15). West Yorkshire seems to have a number of pretty good Spoons and this is definitely one of them.
