A busy Greene King house just across from the station arranged in an L-shape round a corner bar. The standard grey interior is sprinkled with mostly-bogus railway signs but is nice enough, if a bit twee in places. Outside is a patio area down one side. There seems to be a high trade in food and a lot of marketing, including a "Burn the bill" feature where someone's bill is destroyed! A guest ale features alongside IPA and Abbot, but sadly the Black Sheep had just run out with 6X due next. The IPA was in surprisingly good form though and it does have a Cask Marque listing.

Steve C left this review about The Railway

The Railway was very busy with a young crowd on Tuesday evening last week and it was a bit of a struggle to get the attention of the staff for some service. It did give me time to note the ale offerings of Old Speckled Hen, Abbot, Abbot Reserve and IPA – my guess is that this is a Greene King run pub! There is also a standard draught selection alongside Peroni and San Miguel. Food is served from 11:00 until 22:00 and the mains on the special board cost anything up to £8. There is a small restaurant area at the rear that is available for hire and there is an outside patio area.

I thought that this place lacked any character and felt like a bland high street chain pub. There are better places to go in Burgess Hill.
