This is a detached pub. It is a 1960s build, as this is when the whole area was redeveloped. It is somewhat brutal, in that it has a two-storey section, that looks like a castle keep, which is in dark and light brick, with a dark brick lower level extension. The interior has a couple of rooms, but the lounge wasn't being used. The bar has darts and a pool table, with the creamish coloured walls having film photos on them. The floor is of red lino and there were red and green leather perimeter seating, with some tables and chairs. A collection of sporty trophies is displayed. There is a TV, which had daytime programmes on, a pull-down screen (not used) and the music was via the jukebox and at a decent level. The service was very friendly and the place was busy enough with locals - and the place had a friendly vibe. The pub itself is a little tired now, but it is clearly a community place. Beer; no real ale, just the usual tap stuff with M&B MILD. Nothing for the real ale fan, just a good little community pub.

Called in to see if there were any real ales on offer, but nothing for me in this pub. It was early afternoon and there was no-one in apart from the lady behind the bar and an old gent in the foyer smoking. Large bare looking room dominated by a pool table. Trophy cabinet on the wall gives the impression that the locals are winning trophies, so must be popular within the community.
