A Greene King pub dating from the 17th century, one long extended room inside that once was almost certainly three individual rooms. The walls are white painted plaster with inlaid black stained wooden beams, as is the ceiling , the pub has a bare wood floor which is raised a few feet above street level. Seating is normal height tables and chairs some of which were laid out for dining. The bar hosts three handpumps, ales on today were Old Speckled Hen, Ruddles County and Timothy Taylors Landlord, not an overly interesting list though the Taylors beer was in excellent condition albeit a bit pricey at £4.10 a pint.
It was pleasant enough pub with a decent mix of locals and a couple of families in for food on a bank holiday evening, that said I wouldn't go out of my way to revisit given the ale options.
