A weekday lunchtime produced a completely different feel to the previous review, with a slightly upmarket modern gastropub air to the place. The bar is to one side, with various high tables to the other and a few corners, then a further room to the rear laid out for dining. Outdoors, there is a courtyard area to the side, with a small car park to the rear accessed from the roads behind. A good range of local and national beers available - Cask Marque listing.

very busy, verging on the boisterous on an early Saturday evening, as you would expect of a high street pub to be fair. Six handpumps, Windsor & Eton Knight of the Garter and Boistin Mild,Ascot Posh Pooch,Sharp's Atlantic,Harvey's Best and GK IPA.It's an opened out pub with various seating areas and an eating area to the rear. I had thought Chavs were a dying breed but no this is baseball cap city, they're all here, in fact some appear to be morphing into hipsters. The Knight of the Garter was ok and the beer range seems to have slightly improved since the previous reviews but still nothing too much to write home about and I wouldn't go out of my way again.

Malden man left this review about The Red Lion

This is a routine town centre pub, no frills but no issues either. I did get a greeting and a goodbye which is always a plus point for me. According to the plaque on the wall, the building, or main part, dates from 1521. There is a centre bar with one large space wrapping around, seemingly with the rear part given over to eating. A side patio area is also available.
Mainstream beer selection of Ruddles County, Pride and Brakspears Bitter, the Braks was passable, but to be fair it has been very warm lately.
Nothing remarkable about the pub but an ok spot as I'd just missed a train and had a half hour to kill.(NB, review dates from 4th July 2009).
