Lord Mountbatten is a locals boozer with a central entrance with doors to the left and right. To the right is a pool table and the left is a seating area at the front and bar counter that runs up the left-hand wall. The two areas are joined across the rear where some sofas can be found and on the right-hand wall is a projector screen. An accompanying television by the counter was playing the Chase during a recent midweek visit. I counted five hand pumps, four of which were in operation drawing Cross Bay Brewery’s Blonde Sunset (a bit wishy-washy) and The IPA alongside Tatton Brewery’s Citra Blonde and Best. There’s also a very limited selection of keg from the four fonts, Stella, Budweiser, Guinness and Stowford Press cider. The locals were very chatty amongst themselves and the governor was polite, but I struggled to get comfortable and didn’t feel that welcome.

A single room locals pub, unexpectedly there are four pulls of interesting beers as well as the usual boring old kegs, there’s six pulls but just four in use in spite of what appears a good local following for cask beer. A couple of regulars were very keen to recommend the best beers and they were right about the Tatton Gold and probably by extension the stout from the same stable. Battered sofas to the right and into a second space, there’s a pool table here as well. more sofas and ordinary tables and chairs near the left hand side of the counter. Cash only and I appeared to catch the landlord when he was preoccupied with some urgent business on his phone and I got a short measure but thankfully the correct change.
