A long, white building beside a busy road towards the south of Armthorpe, with a garden behind and to the left, and an extension and car park to the right. I went to the right when entering, the room being large and mostly set up for dining. The bar has two hand pumps, and I assume the same is true of the other room to the left. Beers on were John Smiths Cask and another which I forgot to write down, though I remember that it was one that I'd have gone for quite happily if I hadn't spotted the John Smiths, which was in very good condition. I read in Donny Drinker later that the manager here was at the Leopard near the station previously, where in the past I have seen some rather more off-beat beers than John Smiths and whatever else was on when I was here, but I can't imagine there'll be any change to beer policy in a pub that is geared up to attract suburban families. I was in Armthorpe to watch Hallam FC play one of their last games in what is turning out to be a promotion season, so I'll have no reason to come here next year, but if it weren't for that I'd have no problem about popping in this pub again.
