Basic pub that's not really worth the short trip over the border. Then again it isn't that much worse than the others on the English side. No real ale when I visited.

I paid a visit to this hotel for the first time in about a year and found it much different and improved from my last visit. It was obviously a well-kept cellar. The larger was cool and had just about enough head. Martin who served me was polite and friendly and made me feel as if I was wanted there. There was a man setting up the Karaoke equipment and I was told that one night a week there was Karaoke. They were also talking about the Sunday lunch menu for £5 which it seems is a now a three meat Carvery. I would advise everyone that this is a establishment that you should visit. If you were local as I am I would make sure it was my favourite drinking spot.

Chester Tourists review is not very helpful.

The Anchor is a good quiet pub with a good selection of beers on tap including cask, Stella, Becks and Carling.

Friendly welcome, pool table, plenty of parking and a quiz night each fortnight on a wednesday evening.

Would suggest that this is the first pub in Wales (or last depending on your route) and not in England :P
