The Walton’s hotel is a hotel a minute walk from Canning circus down the busy Derby road. Just when you think the already outstandingly brilliant Canning Circus crawl couldn’t possibly get any better this often overlook hotel is now firmly on the itinerary whenever doing the popular crawl. Entering from derby road you go up a short flight of stairs and through a large glass door into a long hallway with the “bar” on the right hand side. The bar is two separate rooms that have been knocked through to make a larger room with the smallish bar along the back wall in the corner. The room has some great traditional decor with long leather sofas and big armchairs as well as an authentic open coal fire for in the winter that gives this place a very old world charming feel that is great to lounge around in. The bar although relatively small in size is very well stoked and has three real ale pumps in use that on my visit had Landlord (presumably a permanent offering) alongside local guest Shipstons gold star and a guest from a little further afield in Lacons Falcon ale. I had the Landlord that was admittedly quite expensive at £3.80 but there is a student discount of 10% offered and compared to other high end hotels this is not the most offensive pricing I have come across. and the other two beers I would guess would be a little cheaper as Landlord is often charged at a premium but the Landlord was in pretty decent nick. The real highlight of this place though is the fabulous outside Terrance they have. Decorated in fairy lights and fire-heaters this is the perfect places to sit and relax in the warmer months and one I co0uld imagine getting extremely busy in a nice day. Even on a cold march day it was very inviting .I really enjoyed this places and they comfy yet stylish bar made me feel really at easy when tucking into a well-kept pint of real ale. Whereas before we would always start out canning circus crawl at the Organ Grinder we will forever walk the extra 70 yards to the Walton’s and it’s a real gem in my opinion.

Expensive hotel bar reached up some steps then right past the outside terrace (where we sat) into the bar that faces you. No real ale, I'm afraid, just keg offerings. The terrace was quite busy on the Saturday afternoon.

The Waltons Hotel is accessed by going up some narrow steps at the side of the hotel.
Once inside there is a long corridor with a posh looking dining room to the left, the first door on the right takes you into the public bar, this room is fairly long and narrow, the bar is on the left and the room had a stone floor near the bar and bare boards with rugs on them in the other areas, there were normal tables and comfortable chairs.
There were three real ales on the bar i had a drink of Castle Rock Harvest Pale and this was a very nice well kept pint, the other beers were Taylor Landlord and London Pride.
For warm weather there is a decent outside area with lots of tables and chairs this overlooks the busy derby road.
The bar had a nice laid back atmosphere and there was some decent music playing in the background.
I quite enjoyed my drink in here and would happily come back here again.
