The Pelican Is a very large two roomed pub that is mainly serves people of the surround ding Bilborough estate. With quite a rough reputation there are not many non-locals visiting this pub. I can’t speak for the left hand room as I did not go in but on entering the right hand side room I was very suppressed at how modern things were inside. There had obviously been a refurbishment over the last couple of years and the spit and sawdust that I was expecting was much better furnished with carpets and comfy bench seating. There was also a little segregated seating area to the side that is partitioned to make it its own slightly more private area. Of all the rough pubs we did in the surrounding area on this evening the Pelican had probably the pick of the roughest people. Three young men were very drunk on rum at the bar and were shouting and swearing and the other dozen regulars were also very loud. The beer selection was obviously limited with the keg bitters on offer being a rarely seen Stones and Worthington creamflow as well as M+B Mild. Amazingly there were two hand pulls tucked on the end of the bar quite out of sight with bone inn operation selling Doomabr which came as a real shock. The doomabr was £3.00 a pint but was not in great shape and had the slightest hint of being on the turn. I dint take it back because I couldn’t be bothered with the reaction from the locals or the naivety of the young and quite dim barman but had it been in a proper ale house I would have had no qualms. This is a classic rough estate pub that has a more modern than usual interior that definitely makes it more welcoming than it would otherwise have been. Although no none was bothered by our visit I would not come here again as the beer is carp and the clientele don’t make for the best company although if ever in Bilborough this is now your only option so if left with no other its ok for a beer but really not a great find.

The Pelican used to be a Bass tied house, this pub is in the middle of the bilborough estate.
This is quite a large two roomed pub that is mainly used by locals, the pub has sky sports but there are no real ales on here only John Smiths smooth.
