Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Red Lion
Right by the town hall, and looking a bit like a pub from the road, the light modernised interior here is definitely in café-bar territory... However, some of the outside tables in the side alleyway were catching the warm spring sunshine, so I quite enjoyed my pint of DNA (£4.10), one of two Charles Wells beers from the four handpumps (with the other being Origin).

Old Boots left this review about The Red Lion
A Charles Wells house lurking behind the splendid Market Hall, basically a modern Ikea look dining pub. Internally it's one open plan room floored with laminate and bare boards on the diagonal, seating on lots of tables and chairs, there are pillars painted taupe and the walls are yellow with a few arty prints, the woodwork of course is grey. Four handpumps on the counter, Directors, Wells Eagle and Bombardier, the fourth was reversed, the beer quality was good, the pub has Cask Marque accreditation but I expect wine will outsell beer in here. The bar staff were a little condescending, the only customers were some middle aged couples and the evening equivalent of “Ladies who Lunch”; “Dames who Dine” perhaps? I noticed a few posters advertising live music and began to wonder if this was a Jekyll and Hyde pub, sedate except for weekends, however the bands appeared to be doing covers of 60s hits so perhaps not.
