This is the second of two Elgood's pubs in March. As you enter there is a bar area with a TV screen, darts and pool. To the left is a dining room that was empty on my Saturday afternoon visit. The bar had two hand pumps one unused and one with Doom Bore. I asked if there were any Elgood's beers and was told no. I ordered a Doom Bore (£2.90) and it smelled of vinegar and tasted sour. I took it back and the landlady apologised saying she had changed the barrel in the morning. So she had done this without washing the line with clean water or even pulling the barrel through to make sure it was clear and drinkable. The replacement was OK as it was sweet and very very boring. the two attributes I associate with Britain's dullest beer.
Members of the CAMRA hierarchy and others say that the old independent brewers should be supported. If the best Elgood's can do in March is a pub with no real ale and one with just Doom Bore then they at least deserve no support at all.
The best feature of this place was the two pub dogs.

Called in this Elgoods pub as we were passing to see what real ales they had on. There were 2 Elgoods Ales, but no-one serving behind the bar. The pub was well attended with diners enjoying carveries at £3.99.

Above was 14.3.13. Called in yesterday for a carvery which was first class for the £3.99 price. The pub was let down by the beer though. This is the second Elgoods pub we have been in where the Cambridge Bitter was not up to expectations. We had our meal in the laid out dining area. Everything clean and tidy. The bar also serves a second room which has a pool table in it.
