Andy Ven left this review about The Crown

Clean and comfortable two roomed local. Stone walls, carpeted floor, stained wood bar and beamed ceilings with jugs hanging. The raised part of the lounge is for diners. Main meals typically cost £9 - £11.

On handpull there was Black Sheep Best Bitter, Copper Dragon Golden Pippin and John Smiths. Very friendly place and we would happily return.

Old Boots left this review about The Crown

Double fronted stone built inn on the steep main street of the “capital” of Nidderdale. To one side is a public type bar in sitting room style with a dartboard and bench seating, it is labeled “Whine Bar” above the door. To the other side is a carpeted lounge cum dining area the tables and chairs being separated on a raised area away from the bar. A pool table is provided at the back of the pub not quite in its own room but secluded and there is a yard/garden for summer drinking. Décor is of plain dark walls livened up with some old photos of the dale, there are odd bits of exposed stone work, some stone flags and from the ceiling hangs a large collection of whisky jugs with a few tankards and steins also present. As expected in the dining area the furniture is wooden, in various shades of brown or pine mainly tables and chairs of course but with a comfortable bench in one corner. There are more comfortable benches and tables in the lounge but with space for vertical drinking as well. A blackboard in the dining area describes the pubs history and lists the main local suppliers of the food cooked here. Five hand pumps between the two bars with local stalwarts Black Sheep Bitter and Ale plus John Smiths cask, as you can see from the pictures both breweries have advertising on the outside walls. Guinness stout with a lager and smooth range from Stella, Carlsberg, Fosters and Worthington, I didn't see a keg or draught cider. The staff are friendly and attentive and the customers on my visit were a mixed bunch of locals and tourists.
