A food-led pub in a rural setting, which has been extensively modernised and knocked through to form a single bar/restaurant area with a raised platform at one end for entertainment. There is a good sized car park at the side, and there is an outside terrace by the front door with vies over the surrounding flat countryside. Food is good quality, reasonably priced – I had an extremely good pizza, not my usual fare but it seemed right at the time. The decor was modern, with floor tiles and a paint job that have covered much of the pub’s original character. The staff were welcoming and friendly, while the majority of the clients seemed to be refugees from a care home. There were three pumps on the bar but only one ale on, Wainwright’s Golden Ale, which was in good condition though a little more expensive than was justified. I tend to agree with Mr Bundy, below, that it’s not somewhere to make an effort to visit, especially given the beer prices, though I’d happily drop in again next time I’m passsing.

This is a modern gastropub which is a bit difficult to get to if you're using public transport. Its a bit of a walk from Hightown train station and there didn't seem to be a bus that passes. The pub has a modern interior and is a bit dull due to that. The bar is situated to the right as I entered and beyond the bar is a larger area with dining facilities. Its not really worth the plod out if you're just after a drink as the beer selection is pretty dull standards.
