There is a terrific review from Tris C below which gives a mass of detail of this very attractive pub, both externally and internally. There four doors and it is possible to work out the original internal layout before it was opened out.The right side, which is now set as a dining area would have been the Public Bar and the unused entrance door in the corner carries this lettering. It has it's own loos.As the bar swings round, and with the window with the bulls eye glass there would have been a front snug with it's own bar access, while along the long side of the bar,a tap room with a good looking fireplace. Finally at the far end,a lounge with again it's own door ,loos and another fireplace. This lounge area has the best of the internal, rich fittings. There is also an internal door to the guest rooms here and food is served daily.
London Truman Burton is repeated in gold leaf above the bar, which these days has 4 handpumps serving on my trip St Austell Tribute ,Adnams Southwold Bitter and TT Landlord doubled up (Served flat southern style,£2.65 half,NBSS 2.5).Maybe not the most exciting line up but worth buying a beer and looking around,it's a very fine example of it's type.

This is a barnstormer of a pub. Dating back to at least the early 17th century, the current incarnation was completed in 1932 to the designs of Truman’s inhouse architect, A. E. Sewell to replace an earlier manifestation dating from the mid-19th century.
Now Grade II-Listed and on CAMRA’s list of pubs with Regionally Historic Interiors, it has a commanding corner sweep. Some of the detailing you notice at first is the pressed metal sign and the small ovals above the entrances with the letter ‘T’ in applied raised metal, surrounded by wrought iron scrollwork. There are stone swag and rose details. It’s what you find inside that’s most spectacular of all – a U-shaped interior and an exceptional example of 1930s’ pub style.
The windows contain bullseye glass with some gold stained detailing. The floor is flagstone. The walls are almost entirely clad with matchboard or similar with hanging wood framed partial curtains with glass panel infill, beneath which and repeated in abundance throughout, are the names of Truman’s beers in either gilt or pale wood inlay. There are also two Truman’s mirrors, integrated into the panelling. The ceiling is most striking, being of white Vitrolite panels, similar to those in the Royal Oak, E2. There are original 1930s' Art Deco hanging lanterns. The bar back has leaded mirror panels. The bar has a black and white chequerboard apron and brass footrail with a field panelled front.
Furniture is simple and solid with some peripheral bench seating and there are two working log fires.
The barman was very friendly, though had little to do as there was only one other customer in on my afternoon visit. Ales: Rose & Crown N16 Ale, Adnam’s Southwold, Caledonian’s Deuchars IPA and St. Austell's Tribute at a pricey £2.40 a half which was fine.
This is a must-visit if in the area and worth visiting if you live in London. The ale choice lets the place down a bit but there’s no denying that it does have a beautiful interior.

Lovely ex Truman's heritage pub with fabulous wooden panelling, opaque glass square boxed ceiling (‘Vitrolite’, thank you Rex) flagstone floor, frosted coloured windows . Bar the opening-out of the interior (too much opening-out, really as it’s a bit of box), there’s much of the old inter-war fittings to enjoy. Five pumps with four on; Caledonian Deuchars, Caledonian brewed house beer, Adnams Bitter and St Austell Tribute. Not the most exciting selection but fair enough and my Tribute was in good shape. Busy on an early Saturday evening and a mixed crowd in. I was quite taken with this one and it's worth the journey to sample. I might well make the effort to do it again.
