Situated on a the decidedly unglamorous Seven Sisters Road, this is a mid-Victorian pub, which is committed to Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040, achieving zero waste landfill by 2030 and reducing food waste by 50% by 2030. It’s also listed on CAMRA’s inventory of pubs with historic interiors, this being of Some Regional Importance, pictures available on their website.
Otherwise, there’s much brown lacquered wood, extant partitions, some stained glass and Victorian-style lighting, largely carpeted and featuring traditional furniture. There’s darts, a games machine and sport, boxing showing with the sound off; little décor amounted to some sports trophies to a high ledge. When it comes to customers, this is very much a traditional and largely older locals’ pub and seemingly multigenerational, i.e. three generations of the same family spotted enjoying a night out. There was a good atmosphere here and as I left at 10.00 pm, a live guitar act struck up in the large rear room.
Sadly there’s no cask here, me opting for a half of Camden Hells (£2.45) served by a very friendly landlady.
This is a surprisingly decent pub, reminding me a bit of Bow’s Little Driver, minus the cask. There aren’t many locals’ boozers like this left in London, so it may be worth a look whilst the chance exists; a couple of quality real ales would get the score up at least 1 point.

This is the the same locals' boozer that Alan found a year and a half ago. The fruit and veg market was on the go during my Wednesday afternoon visit. The pub's no longer carpeted, but still has the central island bar. The two piecesof screening, with their decorative glass panels and narrow doorways, separating the front drinking area into different areas are still in place (thank goodness - I think it's Victorian). There is an attractive entrance area on the left which has some excellent Victorian tiling still in place, being used as a smoking area all the time I was at the pub.

But, apart from the remaining superb original Victorian features, this pub doesn't have a great deal going for it for the discerning drinker. There's no real ale of course, and although I gather they do food, I didn't see any sign of it. The Guinness was OK though. I would say that it's worth dropping into to have a butcher's at the original features if you're into that sort of thing, but probably not the sort of place to spend any length of time. But it's great if you're a local and happy to drink Guinness and bogstandard lager. It gets a five for the original features.

The Enkel Arms is a decent sized corner pub that had market stalls outside it on my Saturday dinner visit.
Once inside there is an island bar and a narrow area to the front which is divided by old looking screens, the seating is normal tables and chairs and the room is carpeted throughout, there is a larger area to the rear which has a pool table.
There were no real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Tetley Smooth crap, which was crap, but cheap at £2.50 a pint.
The pub was fairly busy on my Saturday dinner visit and seemed friendly enough.
