This place dates back to at least the early 19th century, but the current brewers’ Tudor building probably dates from the ‘20s or ‘30s, which around 1982 spent some time as the Laurel & Hardy.
On approach from the north, the initial impression is that the place is closed, or, given that it was a Saturday night, had closed down. This though is due to the right-hand room – the ‘Sinbin’ – being an unused function room – with separate bar – on my visit. Otherwise, the Plough & Harrow module is it to the left, raised above pavement level which provides room for a wheelchair ramp. It has a messed-up interior with flashing lights and few local customers, mixed in age.
There’s no cask here and as I didn’t feel comfortable, I decided not to stay.

Absolutely beautiful looking pub from the outside, big spacious interior, beer kept and served well, unfortunately for a Saturday night it seemed distinctly lacking in customers which generally can only mean one thing in my book. This place has a 'heated beer garden' so if you're up for it, it is worth a visit, if it was in any other area I think it would be a very popular pub.
