An historic inn, circa 1485 with attendant thatched roof and certain aged features including an historic bakery housed in a separate rear room. Three separate areas in the main pub all having their own servery area; from left, a dining room (was gently guided away from here by the barman who knew we were beer drinking chancers just by looking at us), then two bar areas with the majority of seating in the right hand room – all quite cosy and quaint. The nice garden with attendant views across the road to the church would be a nice spot in sunnier weather. Three ales, all Everards (Original, Beacon and Tiger) which drank well, with a winter seasonal that came on just before we left which of course I felt obliged to sample and jolly nice it was too. Thatchers mulled cider and Hogans Pickers Passion also on. A fair selection of bar snacks for those less inclined to dine but still peckish. Quite a nice atmosphere inside, opinions differed over some of the guff on the digital jukebox – seems like the wrong kind of pub for this. A pretty good stop and I’d be happy to do this one again.

Dating from 1485,this claims to be the second oldest pub in England but proving that assertion would be no easy task.However I enjoyed the pretty thatched roof ,the low beams and original features.The bench seating in the quiet garden to the front looked a good place in fine weather with views of the nearby church.It is also possible to dine al fresco here in the summer.
To the left of the front door is a restaurant with food available 12-3 and 5-8.30 from a new chef who has created an "artisan" menu.Winding to the right there are two small bars ,one with a warming wood burner and then finally a third bar with more copious seating.This in turn leads to the historical Bakers Oven with all the original kit,but now used as an occasional seating room.
Being an Everards tied house meant that we had a choice of Beacon,Original and Tiger (good nick,£3.20),while a seasonal brew was reversed ,as was thankfully the guest CW Bombardier.
The only fly in the ointment was rather loud muzak which seemed out of place in such a quaint interior.The tea lights at every table did enhance the ambiance ,and there is an acoustic club on Tuesdays.I didn't eat so can comment on that ,but this is well worth searching out for the interesting interior and well kept ale,it fully justified the decent walk from the canal.

The Bakers Arms is close to the middle of Blaby but it is hidden away off a narrow side street.
This pub looks quite old and really nice from the outside,the pub has got a thatched roof and a small garden to the front,once inside the pub is quite narrow with one long room running across the front this is divided into smaller rooms and all of these rooms have a very cosy feel to them as thay have lots of wood pannelling and are quite dimly lite.
This pub is an Everards tied house and there were four real ales on the bar i had a drink of Everards Beacon bitter and this was a very nice drink the other beers were Everards Tiger bitter, Original and the seasonal Sleigh Bell.
This is a really nice old pub and we were very happy having a drink in here.
