The Peacock is a large corner backstreet local’s boozer. The interior consists of a small L shaped bar that sits to the right of a large seating area that also houses a dartboard and a pool table. During a recent Tuesday evening visit muted Sky Sports was airing on the plasma screen and some background music played off the jukebox. I found the service to be friendly enough, but there is only a standard keg range available from the bar. Live music is held here every Friday and Saturday evening. I’d use this pub if I lived locally, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to revisit.

Roger Button left this review about The Peacock

Tucked away down a back street not far from the town centre, this extended corner pub proudly displays its illuminated Courage sign but the pub name itself is mysteriously missing. It was only by venturing in out of curiosity and reading the noticeboard that we knew where we were. The pub is no great deal with a rather dull, basic and featureless interior. It meets all the requirements of a town centre locals pub, 2 dart boards, pool table, jukebox, fruit machines etc but lacks any reason to make a stranger return or a passer by to pop in (except the curious such as myself). There was certainly nothing particularly wrong with it and it seemed friendly enough. We had a chuckle over 2 girls playing pool (very badly) but the lack of Ales and its Social Club style décor didn't really hit any plus buttons.
