There has been an ale house on this site since the 14th Century, and the current building shows traces of the architectural changes which have taken place since then. It is Spartan inside, with exposed brick walls and tiled floors, basic wooden furniture and a no-frills décor. There is a screen and projector in the back room, and a couple of gaming machines in the front. Food is basic pub grub at a fair price. The locals are a decent bunch, while the landlord was reasonably friendly. There were 4 handpumps on the bar, two dispensing local ciders and one with London Pride, which was in poor condition. Worth a revisit in the hope the ale problem was a one-off.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Cherry Tree

Compact side-street pub, with a partially opened-out two-room layout featuring alehouse-style furniture and decor. Also has some wooden picnic tables outside in the closed-off street. Four handpumps on the counter, offering Adnams Lighthouse, G2 Southern Cross, Good Heavens from Goody Ales (£3.40) and a Biddenden cider.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Cherry Tree

A basic two roomed pub, with a short pine bar along the back wall. Four pumps, with two ales on, one from Whitstable Bay and one from G2 brewery Vela Blonde. I went for the G2, which was decent enough and had good flavour, as the beer was around the 4.2% mark. A mixed crowd here, the barman was chatty, but looked a little off putting with a decent sized black eye. His pal sitting at the end of the bar was nosey and had too much to say in my opinion. Then a couple of respectable young girls walked in for a drink, carrying designer bags after doing a bit of upmarket shopping. So a bit of a mixed bag this one.
