As can be seen from the picture posted here, this pub has a rather striking green frontage and has quite a prime location on a busy intersection in Belvedere.

The bar is in front of you as you walk in. It has 6 handpulls. All customers were sat in a seating area, with further seating to the right-hand side of the bar, where the room stretched back to a games room and a garden beyond. A corridor running alongside the pub contained the toilets.

Friendly customers and staff here. Ghost Ship appears to be the regular beer and the most popular here. Guests were London Pride & Tribute. My Ghost Ship was in good form.

Ironically, the same guy delivering crisps and nuts as I'd seen in the Royal Oak at Erith was here at the same time as me too! However, his taste buds had changed. In the first pub, he only liked Ready Salted crisps, but by the time he'd got here, he'd developed a liking for some Cheese ones!

This one is slightly less Young's-centric than when Roger reviewed it over seven yeras ago. They still had four ales on - Young's Bitter, Bombardier, GK IPA, and Adnam's Ghost Ship. I saw no sign of food when I visited on Wednesday afternoon.

This pub is still carpeted, has some banquettes and normal tables and chairs - with blue the dominant colour with the carpet and upholstery this colour. There are framed prints of foxes - obviously - brass kettles and suchlike hanging around, and the musket is still on the wall as an unusual decorative feature. The pub sign is a bit unusual "The Fox - England". I've been to several places in London where you might not feel that you are in England, but Belvedere isn't really one of them. Nice depiction of a healthy looking fox on it though, unlike its scraggy looking urban relatives living around here, and helpful to remind us we're still in England.

This is a landmark pub that imposes itself on you as you walk along Albert Rd. It's another decent locals' pub in this part of the world, and is another definitely worth including on any crawl of the area.

Roger Button left this review about The Fox

Situated in Upper Belvedere, a hefty uphill hike from the station, the Fox is one of the better and more consistent of the local pubs. It was built in 1853 although the frontage was replaced in 1921.

The interior is L shaped with the framed bar straight ahead as you enter the main door. To the right, the pub extends to a darts area. There are a couple of bays of banquettes that looked quite freshly upholstered and overall the pub looks quite neat and tidy. A portrait of a fox hangs on the wall by the bar and there are a few trophys and other oddments on display (I’ll preeume that the mounted rifle isn’t loaded!). The 4 TVs were all switched off and there was some piped radio in the background. There is some seating at the front on the main road and also a garden to the rear although I have not been to the pub in daylight hours to see what it’s like.

One could be forgiven from the beer choices that this is a Youngs pub with Youngs Ordinary, Youngs Special, Bombardier and Doom Bar across the 5 pumps but it isn’t. In the pubs favour is that it is a better and more expanded choice than my previous vist a couple of years ago and the quality was very good. Prices were also very reasonable (Special was £3), in fact most of the pubs in the area I found to be lower than average for pricing.

The thought of a pub crawl around Belvedere may not seem particularly fruitful to some but the Fox certainly helps to make it a better proposition that one would first expect.
