Soup Dragon left this review about Whitesmiths Arms

This is a croner Arkell Brewery pub spanning two buildings. In cream, with brown paintwork, the larger left-hand building is Georgian, with sash windows and a dormer. The smaller building advertisies a 15th century interior, although the exterior, with its dog-tooth cornice, is somewhat later. The interior is open-plan, part partitioned, with a central island serving bar; although the three large fireplaces (one brick) seem to indicate former rooms. The decor is white, with some brick and the walls have ship pictures, prints and other memorabilia dotted about. The seating has benches, along with half barrels. The TV had BT sport on and the music came from a jukebox at a decent level. There is a pool table and a dart board. The service was fine and the place busy enough with what seemed like a mixed, local clientele. Beer; usual tap stuff with Arkells 3B and a fair Moonlight on handpull. A pub to pop into for one, especially as it serves something a little different in the area.

Old Boots left this review about Whitesmiths Arms

An Arkells pub with an opened out interior with a central servery with three serving faces. Traditionally furnished with benches and Britannia tables plus a tables and chairs made out of barrels in one corner. Three pulls are located on each side of the counter serving 3B or Wiltshire Gold in nice condition. There is also a snug to the right hand side and a pool table in was what originally a separate building, the lefthand part is an 18th Century Grade II listed building while the right hand part dates back to the 15th and retains the original roof causing it to be Grade II listed as well. Décor is strictly maritime with prints of ships, and some artefacts like ships lights, ropework, shell cases and a steering vane or “Panama Cleat” from a Norwegian sailing boat presented by the crew. There are also a couple of big screens. Given its location just outside the old docks the décor isn’t surprising, the limited opening hours more so but it doesn’t do food.
